Joe Junfola writes on
construction defect coverage for IRMI.com.
Mr. Junfola's career in claims spans 4 decades. In July 2019, after more
than 26 years with Admiral Insurance Group as a claim officer specializing in
long-term exposure/continuous damage claims on a national basis, in particular
construction defect claims, Mr. Junfola formed a consulting practice with a
primary, but not exclusive, concentration in construction and design
professional claims.
A staunch believer in continuous learning and improvement, Joe earned the
following professional designations: CPCU, RPLU, RPLU+, SCLA, AIC, ASLI, ARe,
AU, ARM, CRIS, AIS, MLIS, AIC-M, and AIDA. In 2008, he earned the Executive
Certificate in Negotiations from the Mendoza College of Business, University of
Notre Dame, and in 2009, the Home Inspection Certificate through Rutgers
University and the National Institute of Building Inspectors. In 2014, he
earned the Certificate in Law and Legal Process from Southern New Hampshire
University. Throughout his career, Mr. Junfola has attended countless seminars
and workshops. More recently, he completed the Program on Negotiation at
Harvard Law School.
Mr. Junfola created and conducts a webinar/workshop series: Cause and
Effect: Managing the Construction Defect Claim. He is currently an
instructor with the Academy of Insurance. He has also published several
articles and an eBook, Construction Defect Claims: Handbook for Insurance,
Risk Management, Construction, and Design Professionals.
In May 2020, he became a member of the Transaction Advisory Group (TAG),
which is a part of Suite 200 Solutions, a consulting firm that specializes
in advisory services, market intelligence, and talent acquisition. TAG works
primarily with funding sponsors to identify, vet, and facilitate deals with
InsurTech and technology-enabled services companies.
