Aaron E. Lunt

Insurance Regulatory and Government Relations Consultant

Mr. Lunt writes on Insurance Industry Regulation and Compliance for IRMI.com.

Previous to his position with American Auto Guardian, Mr. Lunt leads the legal services team in the property and casualty legal group of CNA. In this role, he oversees a team of attorneys and paralegals in counseling multiple departments within the organization, including agents and brokers, field operations, small business, warranty and alternative risks, and claims. Beyond these assigned responsibilities, the team supports business leaders in creating business-friendly compliant solutions to support profitable growth. These efforts help create market opportunities while limiting financial harm and risk to the organization's reputation.

Prior to working for CNA, Mr. Lunt worked for Assurant, Inc., as the head of regulatory affairs, with responsibilities over the federal and state lobbying function, as well as the regulatory law group. Prior to Assurant, Mr. Lunt worked for The Warranty Group (The Warranty Group was acquired by Assurant in 2018) in a similar capacity for approximately 6 years, with expanded responsibilities over the state filing and producer and adjuster licensing teams. Prior to The Warranty Group, he spent 6 years at Zurich, North America, based in Schaumburg, Illinois, most recently serving as their vice president of laws, regulations, and public policy support with specialization in the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, large commercial deregulation, and new laws and regulations monitoring.

Mr. Lunt is an Illinois-licensed attorney and also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance designations. He recently concluded several board terms, including a 3-year term on the CPCU Society Leadership Council (2016–2018), a 4-year term as the chairman of the Regulatory and Legislative Interest Group (2012–2015), and a 3-year term on the board for the Global Warranty and Service Contract Association (2016–2018).

In addition to Mr. Lunt's passion for politics, reading, and music, his most cherished moments are spending time with his wife and three boys.
