Mr. Lunt leads the regulatory affairs team in the legal, compliance, and government affairs group. As the head of the department, he oversees the federal and state government relations team, as well as the regulatory law group that is collectively responsible for advocating for Assurant's public policy positions with legislators and regulators by leveraging a variety of external (trade associations and law firms) and internal resources. In addition, the team identifies, monitors, and analyzes new legislation and regulation that affects Assurant's business and works closely with members of compliance and the business to implement these changes. Globally, the team works with international contributors to monitor new laws and regulations in the different countries in which Assurant does business to reduce noncompliance and identify new business opportunities. Beyond these assigned responsibilities, the team also supports business leaders in creating business-friendly, compliant solutions to support profitable growth. These efforts help create market opportunities while limiting financial harm and risk to the organization's reputation.

Prior to working for Assurant, Mr. Lunt spent over 5 years with Zurich, North America, based in Schaumburg, Illinois, most recently serving as their vice president of laws, regulations, and public policy support. In that capacity, he led a department responsible for a spectrum of insurance regulatory issues relating to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act, large commercial deregulation, regulatory requirements review, and new law and regulation analysis and implementation support.

Mr. Lunt is an Illinois-licensed attorney and also holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Reinsurance designations. He recently concluded several board terms, including a 3-year term on the CPCU Society Leadership Council (2016–2018), a 4-year term as the chairman of the Regulatory & Legislative Interest Group (2012-2015), and a 3-year term on the board for the Global Warranty and Service Contract Association (2016-2018).

In addition to Mr. Lunt's passion for politics, reading, and music, his most cherished moments are spending time with his wife and three boys.
