IRMI Announces Katie Voss as 2026 Bill McIntyre Leadership Award Winner
National Harbor, MD, October 26, 2026—International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), is proud to announce that Katie Voss, chief risk officer at Brasfield & Gorrie, has been named the recipient of the 2026 Bill McIntyre Leadership Award. This prestigious honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the construction industry through innovative risk management strategies and a commitment to service, mentorship, and education.
Building Risk Management from the Ground Up
Ms. Voss began as an intern at Brasfield & Gorrie in 2005. She then worked as a project estimator, an assistant project manager, and a business development manager before joining the Risk Management Department more than a decade ago. Today, she oversees subcontractor compliance, default protection, and insurance and bonding programs across the company. Her achievements include the following.
- Turning the Subcontractor Default Protection program into a full underwriting and risk transfer operation
- Developing the company's contractor-controlled insurance program
- Helping create an interactive risk heat map and an end-to-end claims tracking system
- Leading the cross-functional Risk Steering Team and serving on the COVID-19 Response Team
- Helping modernize the fleet safety program
Mentorship and Industry Impact
Ms. Voss built a risk department with real career paths in the discipline. She also serves on the advisory boards of Samford University's Risk Management & Insurance program and the University of Alabama's STEM Path to the master of business administration program. She supports the United Way of Central Alabama and serves on the boards of America's First Federal Credit Union and Shook & Fletcher Services. She has been recognized by the Birmingham Business Journal, Business Alabama, and Alabama AGC.
