IRMI Energy Risk & Insurance Conference (ERIC)
Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response—Updated March 27
Given that your health and well-being, along with
that of our colleagues, are our top priority, we have decided that we will not
hold the IRMI Energy Risk & Insurance Conference (ERIC) this
year.
There is simply too much uncertainty as to when the situation will return to
normal for us to confidently schedule the live conference on another date.
However, we are exploring options to bring you the conference
virtually. Make
sure you are on our notification list if you'd like to receive email
updates.
If you already registered for the Conference, you will receive an email from
our Conference Management team regarding a refund of your registration fees. If
you made a hotel reservation at the Royal Sonesta Houston, call (713) 627-7600
to cancel your room.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these
unprecedented times together. If you have additional questions or concerns,
please
contact us.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response—Updated March 13
Given that your health and well-being, along with
that of our colleagues, are our top priority, we have decided that we will not
hold the IRMI Energy Risk & Insurance Conference (ERIC) in Houston this
April.
We’re discussing alternative dates with the Royal Sonesta and had hoped to
make an announcement at the same time as informing you of our decision.
However, we haven’t yet concluded the discussions and felt it best to go ahead
and let you know now.
Feel free to go ahead and cancel your travel plans, including your hotel
registration.
Of course, we will be offering the option of a full refund of your
registration fee or to apply it to a rescheduled conference. Please look for an
email about this in the next couple of weeks. As you can imagine, all hotels
and Conference sponsors are actively involved in these discussions so please be
patient knowing that one of IRMI’s core values is always to put you, the
customer, first.
If you have additional questions or concerns, please contact us.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response—Updated March 6
The health and safety of our Conference attendees are always our top
priority. At this time, based on information available from the
Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
and World Health Organization (WHO), we still
plan to have a successful Conference in April. We understand you may have
concerns, and we want to assure you that we are taking the necessary
precautions to safeguard your well-being.
Attendee Safeguards
Out of an abundance of caution, we ask that all Conference attendees observe
the following practices.
- Don’t shake hands. This year, ERIC will be a
handshake-free Conference. While we usually pride ourselves on our Texas
hospitality, we ask that you join us in refraining from shaking hands as a
greeting.
- Protect yourself by taking commonsense precautions, such
as washing your hands frequently and using hand sanitizer between
washes.
- If you are feeling unwell, do not attend. If you have
any symptoms, even if you think it’s just a common cold, please stay home. We
are instituting a revised cancellation and refund policy due to the unique
circumstances.
Hotel Response and Preparation
We have partnered with the Royal Sonesta Houston to coordinate efforts to
maintain a healthy environment. The hotel has provided the following
statement.
- Equipping our housekeepers with spray disinfectant and to wipe down all
public space surfaces commonly touched by guests:
-
- Stair railings
- Door handles
- Faucets
- Soap dispensers
- Toilet fixtures
- TV remotes
- Telephones
- Desktop items
- Additional hand sanitizing stations have been placed throughout the
meeting and public spaces.
- Our “heart of the house” areas have been supplied with sanitizer stations
along with sanitizer wipes available to each employee.
- Royal Productions, our in-house audiovisual provider, is wiping down all
handheld remotes, microphones, and other equipment after each use.
Stay Up to Date
The IRMI Conference Management team will continue to monitor the latest
guidance from the CDC and WHO, and we will keep this page updated. If you have
additional questions or concerns, please contact us.
We look forward to hosting you at
another terrific Conference in Houston!
