Mr. Rakich has been a risk management consultant since 1985, after serving 15 years as a practicing risk manager. Since 1989, he has specialized in construction risk management, particularly in large infrastructure projects and controlled insurance programs (CIPs).
Mr. Rakich founded Ron Rakich & Associates, Inc., in 1995. The firm became one of the 10 largest independent US risk management consulting firms and the only one specializing in construction risk. Mr. Rakich provides consulting and expert witness services to select clients, and he has been a contract-basis risk manager for some of the largest public works projects in the United States. He has been a litigation consultant and expert witness in more than 35 cases involving construction risk issues and especially CIPs.
Mr. Rakich is the coauthor of The Wrap-Up Guide, 5th edition. He has been a presenter on wrap-ups at multiple IRMI Construction Risk Conferences, and he is the author of "Construction Risk Management: The Owner's Perspective," the October 2006 edition of IRMI's The Risk Report. Mr. Rakich is the former editor of The Risk Management Letter and The Insurance Advisor. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Houston and has taught insurance and risk management courses at several colleges and universities.
