Maria Matamoros, CPCU, ARM-E, AIC, CRIS

Maria Matamoros is vice president of risk management at Orascom Construction USA, Inc. and its affiliate companies, including The Weitz Company, Contrack Watts, Inc., and Watts Constructors, LLC. She oversees insurance, captive programs, surety, claims, project risk assessments, enterprise risk management, and the development of companywide policies, procedures, and training initiatives.

Maria has spent 31 years in the construction industry and has held her current position since 2009. She previously managed high-end clubhouse construction projects during her decade in operations. Before joining The Weitz Company, she spent seven years in commercial construction administration roles in Ecuador. Earlier in her career, Maria held various positions in accounting, operations, and international commerce in Ecuador's banking sector.

She earned a business degree from the Catholic University of Santiago of Guayaquil and a master's degree in construction and real estate business administration, awarded jointly by the same university and the Technical University of Madrid, Spain.

Maria holds an insurance producer license in the State of Iowa for property, casualty, and surplus lines. She has earned the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate in Risk Management–Enterprise Risk Management (ARM-E), Associate in Claims (AIC), and Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) designations.

She is a past chair of the Associated General Contractors of America Surety Bonding and Risk Management Forum and serves on The Hartford Construction Advisory Board.
