Marcus Schmalbach, PhD

Dr. Marcus Schmalbach is a specialist in insurance-linked capital structures and parametric risk solutions, operating at the intersection of reinsurance, capital markets, and technology. He is a cofounder and the CEO of RYSKEX, a Connecticut-domiciled risk finance platform focused on bespoke credit enhancement and insurance-backed bond structures.

With extensive experience in underwriting, structured risk transfer, and cross-border regulatory environments, Dr. Schmalbach works on the design of protected cell company frameworks and principal protection instruments bridging institutional investors and insurance markets.

In addition to his executive role, he serves as a professor of artificial intelligence and blockchain at the ESCP Business School, where his research focuses on digital infrastructure, tokenization, and the future architecture of financial markets.

He holds a PhD in business administration from the University of Gloucestershire and a master of business administration from the ESB Business School, combining academic depth with practical execution in global risk and capital environments.
