Justin C Velten, PhD

Cofounder and Board Chair

Justin Velten contributes articles on employment practices to the Expert Commentary section of IRMI.com. Dr. Justin Velten is the cofounder and CEO of Go Culture Labs, a workforce risk research and technology firm that developed TeamShield, the first system built to help insurers and brokers prevent employment practices liability losses before they surface.

Drawing from 2 decades of research in human communication and operational risk behavior, Dr. Velten's work bridges behavioral science and insurance performance. His team's prevention systems—validated in high-reliability environments such as US Special Operations and global manufacturing—are now being adapted across commercial insurance portfolios to improve loss ratios, portfolio retention, and renewal return on investment.

Prior to founding Go Culture, Dr. Velten spent 14 years as a professor and researcher of intercultural and organizational communication, helping leaders and teams strengthen trust, cohesion, and mission reliability. His expertise in workforce analytics and early-signal detection now informs the emerging discipline of Workforce Risk Prevention™—the next evolution of loss control for the insurance industry.

He holds a PhD in intercultural communication from Regent University and has served as a consultant to healthcare, manufacturing, and federal agencies.
