Douglas Berry

Mr. Berry contributes property insurance and time element articles for IRMI.com.

Doug Berry is a partner in the Tampa office of Butler Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP, having joined the firm in 1989 following 20 years of service in the US Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corps, Mr. Berry served as an infantry officer in Vietnam before attending Stetson College of Law in St. Petersburg on a military scholarship. After graduating law school, he served as a military prosecutor, criminal defense attorney and held various other legal positions while on active duty, including serving as a special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy.

Since joining Butler Pappas Weihmuller Katz Craig LLP, Mr. Berry's practice has concentrated on litigation of first- and third-party coverage issues on behalf of insurers throughout Florida and elsewhere in the Southeast. He is an active member of the Insurance Coverage Litigation and Property Insurance Committees of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Loss Executives Association.

Mr. Berry is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and Stetson College of Law and also holds an MS degree from the University of Southern California and an LLM degree from George Washington University.
