Mr. Roberts writes about agriculture insurance for IRMI.com.
Mr. Roberts has 39 years of experience in the world of insurance sales and education, bringing a great wealth of technical knowledge and industry smarts to wherever his travels take him. He formed Laurus Insurance Consulting in 2010, where he works with individual agents and agencies to improve their sales processes and environments. Prior to that, he spent his years as a personal lines producer, personal lines department manager, commercial sales producer, and commercial lines sales manager for a large independent agency in northern California. The main goal of his insurance consulting practice is to assist insurance professionals in their pursuit of sales success.
He has been teaching his fellow agents and brokers (as well as anyone else who will listen) for at least 25 years. He speaks nationally on topics as varied as agents/brokers errors and omissions, workers compensation, agency management, risk management, agency operations, farm property and liability topics, and multiple other commercial and personal lines issues. Mr. Roberts provides expert witness services for both insurance coverage issues and "standard of care" issues for the agency and brokerage communities.
Mr. Roberts has served as a director for the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS®) designation and IBA West's, which is now the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California (IIABCal), Agribusiness Committee. He also holds the Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation and Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR) credentials. Mr. Roberts instructs as part of a nationwide effort to educate those in the insurance industry on the various topics that apply to agribusiness insurance and exposures. As part of this effort, he supports those in pursuit of the AFIS certification. For agribusiness, he lectures on topics as diverse as farm property and liability, excess and umbrella liability, risk management, workers compensation, the Migrant and Seasonal Agricultural Worker Protection Act, and more.
