FIRMette
Definition
FIRMette — a section of a flood insurance rate map (FIRM) developed by the Federal
Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that can be created online by selecting the
desired area from an image of a FIRM. The FIRMette also includes the map title
block, north arrow, and scale bar. Like the FIRM, the FIRMette can be used in
many aspects of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), including
floodplain management, flood insurance, and enrollment of mandatory flood
insurance purchase requirements. Online FIRMettes are the simplest way to see a
flood map for a specific location.
