Ex gratia payment is Latin for "by favor." It is a voluntary payment made by the insurer in response to a loss for which it is not technically liable under the terms of its policy.

Ex parte hearings are hearings where due to extenuating circumstances, one party seeks immediate relief from the court. Ex parte hearings are for the benefit of one party only. "Ex parte" is a latin term that means "from the party."

Estimatics, as the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) defines them, apply commonly available statistical formulas to analyze vehicle claims—methods that may seem arcane and complex to the public, but which are easily recognized in various professions and areas of expertise. Basically, estimatics is the process of determining the cost of the damage to property before it is damaged.
