Christopher Heckman

Mr. Heckman is general counsel to ExxonMobil Risk Management and its captive insurer, Ancon Insurance Company, one of the largest captives in the world with more than $5 billion in assets and insureds/reinsureds in more than 100 countries. He has handled numerous large coverage disputes, including the Exxon Valdez and the environmental and asbestos claims of Exxon and Mobil. He has represented Ancon in major claims worldwide, including the first major commercial mediation in Europe, which arose out of the 1991 sinking of the Sleipner platform in Norway. He is a frequent speaker on insurance-related issues. Before joining Exxon Corporation in 1991, he practiced maritime and insurance law in New York City. Mr. Heckman is a 1978 graduate of Tulane Law School.
