Dallas, TX, February 24, 2017International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), has assembled a distinguished group of keynote speakers for the IRMI Energy Risk & Insurance Conference (ERIC), to be held March 6–8, 2017, in Dallas.

On Monday, March 6, the Opening General Session, "Emerging Science and Risk in Onshore Oil and Gas Markets: 2017 Update," will be presented by R.J. Briggs, Senior Energy Economist of Praedicat, Inc. This session will take a prospective look into critical risks facing the US onshore oil market. On Tuesday, March 7, catch the General Session for "Key Trends in Energy Supply and Demand: Global Energy Outlook," presented by James Brick, Principal Analyst—Primary Fuel Fundamentals, Wood Mackenzie. Since the role of the United States in global energy markets is changing as it gains energy independence, this session will provide information to help understand global energy dynamics. It will discuss the fundamentals of energy supply and demand, as well as how renewables, shale, changing demand, and other factors are impacting energy markets.

On Wednesday, March 8, wrap up the Conference with the Closing General Session, "Looking to the Future: How the New Administration Will Impact the Insurance and Energy Industry." This session is a discussion with seasoned energy risk professionals: Richard Blades, Chairman, Wortham Insurance; Tom Glasson, Government Affairs Office, AIG; Kevin Ryan, Senior Vice President and CFO, Merit Energy Company; and Julia Palmer, Partner, Holland & Knight. The panel will be moderated by Bill McIntyre, Chairman, IRMI. The 2016 federal election results will impact the energy and insurance industries more than any previous election. It appears that in the energy sector, the new administration will focus on adopting policies that attempt to expand fossil fuel production, ease regulations, and roll back President Obama's clean air policies. The insurance industry expects to see an impact on regulation among other issues. This session will delve into the new American political climate to help attendees understand how they will be affected by the policies of the new administration.
