Dallas, TX, July 26, 2018International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), has assembled a distinguished group of keynote speakers for the 38th IRMI Construction Risk Conference (CRC), to be held November 4–7, 2018, in Houston.

On Monday, November 5, the Opening General Session, "Workers Compensation Trends and Challenges in Construction," will be presented by Kathy Antonello, chief actuary for the National Council on Compensation Insurance. Construction has one of the highest injury and fatality rates of all industries, which makes workers compensation insurance one of the essential components of a contractor’s insurance program. In this session, you will gain unique insights into trends in the construction industry loss experience and a better understanding of the significant challenges for the workers compensation insurance industry and contractors managing their workers compensation programs.

On Tuesday, November 6, catch the General Session for "Dream Makers: Never Give Up on Your Dreams," presented by Jim "The Rookie" Morris, who is sponsored by Liberty Mutual Insurance. Mr. Morris shares his memoir, portrayed in the movie The Rookie, and reflects on those dream makers who helped to shape his life. He relates the life lessons passed down to him by his grandfather and the lessons he learned from a small-town baseball team that helped him pursue his long-time dream of becoming a Major League Baseball player. Through Mr. Morris’s self-deprecating humor and his ability to take the audience on an emotional ride, everyone shares his inspiring journey of failures and successes while chasing his dreams and overcoming life’s obstacles.

On Wednesday, November 7, wrap up the Conference with the Closing General Session, "The View from My Seat," featuring seasoned construction risk professionals: Tim East, director of risk management for the Walt Disney Company; Aldo Guerrero, assistant risk manager for Liberty Construction Services; Michelle Luster, corporate risk manager for Tutor Perini Corporation; and Maria Matamoros, vice president of risk management for the Weitz Company. Moderated by Bill McIntyre, chairman of American Contractors Insurance Group and IRMI, this panel of experts will share their insights on how they are tackling emerging construction risks such as the abundance of new technologies, the labor shortage and its many implications, changing laws and regulations, and more.
