Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) Program Reaches 8,000 Designees

Dallas, TX, October 7, 2015—The number of construction and insurance professionals who have earned the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) certification has now surpassed 8,000 people, International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), announced today.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the CRIS certification and continuing education program. IRMI launched it in 2005 to help construction insurance buyers, risk managers, underwriters, and agents/brokers learn best practices for satisfying the complex insurance and risk management needs of contractors. The CRIS courses are available online and, in some states, through classroom programs. The online courses are approved for state-mandated insurance continuing education (CE) credit in all states.

The program also helps contractors identify insurance agents and brokers who focus on the construction industry and who are uniquely qualified to write their insurance. To facilitate this process, CRIS-certified agents and brokers are listed in an online insurance agent and broker directory that contractors may consult at no cost.

"As the risk and insurance industry becomes more specialized, the need for industry-specific insurance continuing education becomes more important. The widespread industry engagement validates the CRIS program as uniquely satisfying the need for easily accessible continuing education for the industry," said IRMI President and CEO Jack P. Gibson, CPCU, CRIS, ARM.
