A central collection point is the location where a generator of regulated medical waste consolidates wastes originally generated at various places in its facility.

The wastes are gathered together for treatment on site or for transportation elsewhere for treatment and/or disposal. This term could also apply to community hazardous waste collections, industrial, and other waste management systems.
