Background
Michael T. Murdock has worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years in
various industry technical and management positions, including claims adjuster,
supervisor, regional claims manager, vice president, chief operating officer,
and president in insurance, reinsurance, risk management, and third-party
administrator (TPA) firms, handling all lines of insurance.
With his diversified multiline insurance background, Mr. Murdock has not
only personally adjusted and audited many insurance claims, but has also formed
and managed two TPA firms. He is a licensed adjuster, and has been licensed as
an insurance broker/agent, surplus lines broker, reinsurance broker, and
certified insurance consultant. He has worked in the traditional, specialty,
London, and the alternative insurance markets. These experiences have allowed
him to write from both an insurance company and TPA executive perspective.
Mr. Murdock has a master's degree in Insurance Management from Boston
University and holds the following insurance designations:
- Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
- Associate in Reinsurance (ARe)
- Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
- Associate in Surplus Lines Insurance (ASLI)
- Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) (from the International Center for
Captive Insurance Education)
Mr. Murdock grew up in Massapequa, New York, and spent most of his career in
the northeastern part of the United States. He is married with three daughters
and currently resides in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area.
Currently, Mr. Murdock is the senior vice president of Claims and Program
Services at Berkley Risk, a W.R. Berkley Company. Berkley Risk provides
insurance management and claim administration services.
