New Liquor Liability Endorsements in Commercial Liability Insurance

Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), has filed a number of new endorsements for use with the standard commercial general liability (CGL) coverage form and some miscellaneous general liability coverage forms as well as revised versions of several other standard CGL endorsements. Implementation of the new and revised forms is scheduled in most jurisdictions for December 1, 2019. The endorsements addressed in the filing affect a range of coverage topics. This Commercial Liability Insurance release includes a number of annotations for new endorsements introduced in the filing.

Amendment of Liquor Liability Exclusion—Limited Exception for Bring Your Own Alcohol (CG 40 09) is introduced as a modified version of Amendment of Liquor Liability Exclusion (CG 21 50) for the standard CGL policy.

Four new endorsements are being introduced for use with the Liquor Liability Coverage Forms (CG 00 33 and CG 00 34). These new endorsements provide additional insured status in the following situations.

Because these are the first standard endorsements available to extend additional insured status under the ISO liquor liability coverage forms, the Primary and Noncontributory—Other Insurance Condition endorsement (CG 20 01) (which states explicitly that additional insured coverage is on a primary and noncontributory basis) is being revised for use with the liquor liability coverage forms as well.
