Find an Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Expert

Does Your Agent or Broker Really Understand Agribusinesses and Farms?

Agribusiness and farms have a variety of unique exposures that require specialized expertise to properly insure. As someone who is responsible for purchasing insurance for an agribusiness, it is crucial that you work with an insurance professional who understands the many facets and complexities of the agricultural industry. You need someone who can accurately interpret the coverage provided by standard farm forms, identify coverage gaps, compare policy forms, and stay ahead of emerging exposures.

How do you find an agent or broker with these specific skills? Ask them if they have earned their Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS®) certification from IRMI.

What Is the AFIS Certification?

The AFIS continuing education program was developed to provide an opportunity for insurance agents and brokers to gain specialized expertise in agribusiness and farm insurance and risk management. Working with an AFIS certified agent or broker will ensure that you have a partner who understands the most important insurance needs of agribusinesses and farms.

AFIS certified professionals have completed 5 core courses covering farm property, farm liability, farm auto, workers compensation and umbrella insurance, special farm property insurance lines, and miscellaneous farm insurance lines. They are also required to meet annual continuing education requirements to ensure their expertise stays up to date.
