Having served on the CGL Reporter Board in
2011–2016, Mr. McInnis provided his expertise in the professional liability
and claims-made coverage areas.
Mr. McInnis is a partner in the Orange County office of Troutman Sanders
LLP, where he is the co-leader of the firm's D&O and Professional
Liability insurance practice group. His practice involves the representation
of insurance companies in coverage and bad faith litigation throughout the
country. He also provides pre-litigation counseling and advice to insurance
clients regarding complex coverage and claims-handling issues.
Mr. McInnis has served as chair of the Professionals,' Officers'
and Directors' Liability Committee of the American Bar Association's
Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section (TIPS), and has been a vice chair
of that Section's Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee. He was
appointed to the State Bar of California's Committee on State Bar
Approved Professional Liability Insurance, and serves as a columnist on
insurance issues for the Commercial Litigation Committee of the Defense
Research Institute. He is ranked as a leading insurance attorney by
Chambers USA, and has been recognized as a Southern California and
Orange County Super Lawyer in insurance coverage.
Mr. McInnis received his law degree from Columbia University in 1991.
