Background
During the 1990s, Steve Williams worked with the Overseas Private Investment
Corporation (OPIC) in developing customized political risk insurance coverage
for Nabors's growing operations in Yemen and served on OPIC's Advisory
Council. In 2013, he was promoted to vice president, HSE and risk management,
and is responsible for Nabors's Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment in
addition to his Risk Management responsibilities. He currently manages two
captive insurance companies wholly owned by Nabors and reports regularly to
Nabors's board of directors' Audit and Technology and Safety
Committees. He also serves on Enterprise Risk Management and its Disclosures,
Controls, and Procedures Committees.
Mr. Williams joined Geosource in 1980, where he was responsible for managing
its international risk management program in South America, Europe, the Middle
East, and Africa. Prior to Geosource, he worked for Kendavis Holding Company in
Fort Worth, Texas, as risk manager. Kendavis’s drilling company was acquired by
Nabors Industries Inc., and, shortly after the acquisition, Mr. Williams joined
Nabors as risk manager. Mr. Williams completed his bachelor of business
administration degree at Texas Tech University and began his career in risk
management with Corporate Systems, where he designed, implemented, and provided
day-to-day service with risk management information systems.
