Background
Serving on the CGL Reporter Editorial Board in
2014–2017, Ms. Awsumb provided expertise on professional liability matters.
Ms. Awsumb has successfully represented local and national clients in a wide
range of business disputes in state and federal courts across the country. Her
practice focuses on complex commercial litigation (including business torts,
breach of contract claims, and ownership and governance matters) and insurance
coverage disputes involving bond and professional liability claims. She has
been included on the Super Lawyers Rising Stars list from 2010 to 2016.
Ms. Awsumb is active in national and local bar associations. Ms. Awsumb has
served on the Federal Bar Association's Professional Ethics committee. Ms.
Awsumb was also a committee member of the Minnesota State Bar Association
Minnesota E-Discovery Working Group, Working Group 1, and coauthored an
e-discovery article published in the William Mitchell Law Review. Ms.
Awsumb is also a member of the American Bar Association Tort Trial and
Insurance Practice Section and the Fidelity Surety Law Committee, Business
Litigation Committee, Insurance Coverage Litigation Committee, and the Trial
Techniques Committee. Ms. Awsumb has published several articles regarding
ethics and e-discovery issues.
Ms. Awsumb received her law degree from the University of Iowa College of
Law, with distinction, where she was a member of the Iowa Law Review.
Ms. Awsumb also completed clerkships for the Honorable David G. Campbell,
District of Arizona (2003–2004), and for the Honorable John S.W. Lim, Hawaii
Intermediate Court of Appeals (2001–2002).
