Background

Mr. Lemega became a member of theCGL Reporter Editorial Board in 2002 and stayed through 2009, where he specialized in intellectual property coverage.

Mr. Lemega was the founder and co-chair of the Insurance Law Practice Group at Halloran & Sage. He has extensive experience in the litigation of complex insurance coverage and bad faith issues as well as in the complete handling of first-party cases (with and without a bad-faith component). He also has extensive appellate experience in litigating coverage and bad-faith cases beyond the trial level.

Mr. Lemega has written extensively on insurance coverage, first-party, and bad-faith issues and has participated on the faculty of numerous continuing legal education seminars. The topics about which Mr. Lemega has written include all issues involving uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage, the insurability of punitive damages, the utility of declaratory judgment actions to resolve coverage disputes, the intentional injury exclusion and the insurer's obligation to pay pre-tender costs. He and the team of lawyers with whom he worked represented many insurance companies in both pre-suit and post-suit contexts. Recognizing that cases seeking extra-contractual damages can have a potential catastrophic impact on an insurer, Mr. Lemega was a leader in using voluntary mediation techniques to seek resolution of coverage/bad-faith disputes.

Mr. Lemega is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, TIPS, the Defense Research Institute, and the Connecticut Defense Lawyers Association. He earned his bachelor of arts, cum laude, from Trinity College and received his juris doctor degree from Boston College.
