Mr. Gauntlett joined the CGL Reporter Editorial
Board with the Fall 2001 edition, remaining through 2008. He provided
intellectual property knowledge and experience.
Mr. Gauntlett is principal of Gauntlett & Associates and represents
policyholders in insurance coverage disputes regarding intellectual property,
antitrust, and business tort claims, as well as in the underlying actions. He
also serves as an expert witness on insurance coverage issues and represents
policyholders and their counsel on a range of fee dispute issues with their
insurers.
Mr. Gauntlett is the author of Insurance Coverage for Intellectual
Property Assets and is a highly recognized author in the area of
insurance coverage, including authoring IP Attorney's Handbook for
Insurance Coverage in Intellectual Property Disputes and contributing
chapters for the New Appleman on Insurance Law Library Edition, Recent
Developments in Insurance Coverage Litigation, New Appleman Insurance Law
Practice Guide,; ICLC's CGL Handbook, A Primer on Insurance Coverage Law,
and Intellectual Property Claims Under Commercial Generally Liability
Policies and Free and Open Source Software and Content Desk
Reference: A Legal and Risk Management Guide. He is co-chair of the
Computer/Technology Subcommittee of the ICLC and has also served as
vice-chair for the Litigation Section's Insurance Coverage Committee from
1998 to present.
Mr. Gauntlett is a nationally recognized speaker and has been a featured
speaker at numerous conferences throughout the country on the topic of
insurance coverage for intellectual property/antitrust lawsuits. He has also
served as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Berkeley,
School of Law, Boalt Hall, where he taught a class in the Fall of 2001
entitled, Insurance Coverage for Intellectual Property, Antitrust and E
Commerce. He has served as the vice chair of the Intellectual Property
Insurance Owners Law Committee since 2001 and the Corporate IP Management
Committee since 2010.
Mr. Gauntlett received his bachelor of arts degree, magna cum laude, from
the University of California at Irvine and his juris doctor from Boalt Hall
School of Law, University of California, where he has served as production
manager of the California Law Review.
