Carla Marino-Schwarz writes on environmental

Ms. Marino-Schwarz is the director of Legal Affairs for the Marsh
Environmental Practice. She serves as a member of the Global Resource team for
the practice offering expertise in the design of environmental insurance
products for clients, as well as focusing on centers of influence strategies
for business development. Ms. Marino-Schwarz has extensive experience in the
insurance and legal industries in the areas of environmental insurance and
reinsurance contract interpretation, coverage and reserve analysis, and claims
and litigation management. In her 14 years in the industry, she has served as
an insurance defense attorney with a New Jersey law firm specializing in
complex toxic tort and product liability litigation. She also gained extensive
knowledge and experience while with both the Chubb Group and American
Re-Insurance companies where she was responsible for matters concerning all
facets of claims and litigation involving environmental and product liability
exposures under primary and excess coverage, and reinsurance treaty and
facultative contracts.
Ms. Marino-Schwarz has contributed to industry publications on topics of
environmental insurance and emerging exposures. She also lectures frequently on
various topics of environmental insurance as they relate to mergers and
acquisitions, toxic torts, Brownfield redevelopment, and real estate
transactions. Immediately prior to joining Marsh, she held the position of vice
president and general counsel of the Willis Environmental Practice Group.
Ms. Marino-Schwarz graduated magna cum
laude with a BA in Communications Studies from Muhlenberg College,
Allentown, Pennsylvania, and received her Juris Doctor from The Dickinson
School of Law, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She is a member of the bars of New
Jersey, Pennsylvania, and the District of Columbia and is a member of the
American Bar Association with a chair on the Tort & Insurance Practice
Committee.
