Having joined the CGL Reporter Editorial Board
in 2014, Mr. Ade provides expertise on construction and excess/umbrella
cases.
Mr. Ade is a partner in the firm's Insurance Coverage and Litigation
and Litigation and Appeals Practice Groups resident in the New Jersey office.
He holds the Certified Civil Trial Attorney designation from the New Jersey
Supreme Court.
An experienced trial attorney, much of Mr. Ade's time is devoted to
insurance coverage issues. His insurance coverage practice has included two
landmark cases before the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He counsels clients on
an almost daily basis on coverage issues arising out of automobile,
comprehensive general liability, umbrella, excess, and other types of
insurance policies. He has recently reviewed coverage issues raised in life
science policies by claims related to hydrochloride inferior vena cava
filters. The application of the abuse and molestation exclusion to claims
against massage therapists is another example of a recent coverage opinion he
has written.
The Complex Insurance Claims Litigation Association retained Mr. Ade to
file an amicus brief with the Supreme Court of New Jersey in a case decided
in 2018. The issues addressed in the brief relate to trigger and allocation
in the context of asbestos claims.
Mr. Ade has been selected by his peers to be included in the 2018 edition
of the Best Lawyers in America, the 15th time he has enjoyed this honor. He
is on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Environmental Claims
Journal. He was the regional editor for the 2012 DRI Excess and Umbrella
Compendium and is a coauthor of the New Jersey chapter of the 2014
"Writing Reservation of Rights: A North American Compendium," both
published by the DRI Insurance Law Committee. He is presently serving as a
senior member of the American Bar Association (ABA) Tort Trial and Insurance
Practices Commercial General Liability Editorial Board.
In each of the professional associations to which Mr. Ade belongs, he has
participated in committees dedicated to his areas of interest—that is, the
Insurance Law Committee of DRI, the Torts and Insurance Practice Section of
the ABA, the Product Liability Committee of the Bergen County Bar
Association, and the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the New
Jersey Defense Association.
