Houston, TX, March 11, 2013—More than
300 risk managers, insurance agents, brokers, attorneys, and underwriters who
specialize in managing or insuring the risks associated with the oil and gas
industry convened here March 4–6 for the inaugural IRMI Energy Risk and
Insurance Conference.
Oil and gas operators, drilling contractors, and well servicing
contractors large and small sent their risk, insurance, and safety managers.
In addition, virtually all the major providers of insurance or surety
services were represented. World Risk and Insurance News (WRIN.tv)
interviewed several attendees to understand the market needs this Conference
addresses.
The IRMI Energy Risk and Insurance Conference is the only national
symposium devoted to managing and insuring the risks of oil and gas
exploration and operations. Attendees experienced a preconference workshop, a
general session, and 12 workshops presented by more than 30 nationally
recognized risk and insurance, economic, and oil and gas industry experts.
Handouts
from these sessions are now available at no cost on the IRMI website.
Twelve
charter sponsors signed on to help provide several networking
opportunities.
“Many unique risks are inherent in exploring for, extracting, and
transporting oil, gas, and other hydrocarbons, and there is a great need in
the industry for a forum where best practices for managing and insuring them
can be shared,” said IRMI President & CEO Jack Gibson. “The attendees
gave the Conference rave reviews on the quality of the educational sessions
and the networking opportunities, allowing us to conclude that we are on the
right track with this Conference. We will begin planning next year right away
with a goal of making it even better.”
The next IRMI Energy Risk and Insurance Conference is planned for March
2014. Learn more
