DALLAS-International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), has published the second edition of Insurance for Defective Construction. Increasing litigation over construction defects, particularly in the residential sector, has resulted in new approaches by insurers to these claims in an effort to avoid large losses on commercial general liability (CGL) insurance policies insuring construction risks. This book explains the legal theories and policy form changes to give its readers an advantage in applying the policy language to complex construction defect claims and to develop winning coverage arguments.

Insurance for Defective Construction was written by Patrick J. Wielinski, an attorney in the Dallas-Fort Worth office of Cokinos, Bosien & Young. Mr. Wielinski focuses his practice on insurance coverage and he regularly lectures to construction, insurance, and legal groups on insurance coverage and risk management issues. He is a coauthor of the IRMI reference Contractual Risk Transfer. IRMI President Jack Gibson commented, "Having participated in some of the important coverage cases involving defective construction issues, Pat has not only developed an in-depth knowledge of this unique area of the law but has participated in its development. He's a great writer who has been in the trenches and freely shares his insight in this book."

The cost of Insurance for Defective Construction, 2nd ed., is $72 in print format, with access via IRMI Online starting at $36 per year. Call (800) 827-4242 for IRMI Client Services.
