Once you earn the right to use the Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS®) certification, you must maintain it.

This involves obtaining 3 hours of approved professional and management liability insurance continuing education credit during the 12 months following initial receipt of the certification and every 12 months thereafter.

You may obtain CE credit in one of two ways:

  1. completing online MLIS courses or
  2. attending webinars, seminars, conferences, or other educational events that have been approved for MLIS reaccreditation (and notifying us that you have completed them).

MLIS Reaccreditation Courses

The MLIS Learning Center will offer professional and management liability risk and insurance courses designed to increase your expertise. One of these courses is all that is necessary to satisfy your 3-hour CE requirement, and most will also qualify for insurance CE if you need it. Here is a list of the currently available courses.

  • Common Features of Professional and Management Liability Policy Forms

  • Employment Practices Liability Exposures and Insurance Coverage

  • Fiduciary Liability Exposures and Insurance Coverage

  • How to Insure Directors & Officers Liabilities

  • Private Company and Nonprofit D&O Liability Exposures and Insurance

  • Professional Liability Insurance Coverage Triggers

  • Property and Casualty Reinsurance Fundamentals

  • Understanding Directors & Officers Exposures

These courses are now available in the MLIS Learning Center’s Course Catalog. Simply go to the MLIS Learning Center, and then select the “Reaccreditation” tab. Alternatively, you may retake one of the core courses to satisfy the 3-hour requirement, and we recommend you do this every few years as we update the courses to cover the latest developments in professional and management liability risk and insurance.
