Over 1,500 Attend 35th IRMI Construction Risk Conference

Release Date: Nov 12, 2015

Las Vegas, NV—Over 1,500 risk managers, insurance agents, brokers, attorneys, and underwriters who specialize in managing or insuring the risks associated with construction projects convened here November 8–11 for the 35th IRMI Construction Risk Conference.

The IRMI Construction Insurance Conference began in 1982 with fewer than 150 insurance buyers and met twice a year. It has grown into the Construction Risk Conference—the only national symposium devoted exclusively to managing, insuring, and bonding the risks of construction projects. This year’s Conference featured 3 general sessions and 45 workshops presented by more than 60 nationally recognized insurance, risk management, safety, and surety experts.

Contractors large and small sent their risk, insurance, and safety managers. In addition, virtually all the major providers of insurance or surety services were represented, and a substantial number of risk managers representing project owners (i.e., companies with large construction projects planned or under way) attended.

“When the first Construction ‘Insurance’ Conference began all those years ago, it was a passion for risk management and safety that brought these industry leaders together,” said IRMI President & CEO and Conference Cochairman Jack Gibson. “Thirty-five Conferences and a name change later, it’s inspiring to witness the same level of dedication and commitment to learning best practices and sharing ideas at the IRMI Construction Risk Conference. Over the years, attendees have embraced the values we saw at that first meeting and led the charge to manage risk wisely and make the construction industry safer.”

The 36th IRMI Construction Risk Conference will be held November 6–9, 2016, in Orlando, FL. For more information, visit
