Keynote Speakers Announced for the 2015 IRMI Construction Risk Conference

Release Date: Jul 21, 2015

Dallas, TX—International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI®), is excited to announce the distinguished speakers for keynote sessions at the 35th IRMI Construction Risk Conference to be held November 8–11, 2015, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

On Monday, November 9, the opening general session, Easiest Catch: Don’t Be Another Fish in the "Cyber-Net," will be presented by Mark Lanterman, chief technology officer for Computer Forensic Services. This session addresses the hot topic of cyberattacks. Unfortunately, the question now is not if your information is going to be accessed or stolen, but when. The risk of these attacks is no longer concentrated only on retailers that accept credit cards but also on any company with sensitive data or access to the systems of others. For example, the recent breach at a major retailer started in the network of an HVAC contractor. Hear current developments in the digital underground and realistic advice for cyberprotection, as Mark Lanterman uses recent high-profile cybercrime events to demonstrate some of the more dangerous threats to contractors, including phishing, malware, and Wi-Fi attacks.

On Tuesday, November 10, catch the general session for CEO Perspectives: Risk, Safety, and Leading from the Top. This session is a discussion with Charles (Charlie) A. Bacon III, chairman and CEO of Limbach Facilities Services LLC, and Thomas F. Gilbane Jr., chairman and CEO of Gilbane, Inc., and will be moderated by Bill McIntyre. Top management sets corporate priorities and the tone for how organizations are run. From how employees are recruited and managed to building the customer base and delivering on commitments, everyone takes their cues from those in charge. All of this is reflected by the corporate culture. In this session, the CEOs of two highly regarded construction firms discuss how they view risk and the role of risk management, their roles in setting risk management expectations and standards, and their visions for an injury-free workplace.

The IRMI Construction Risk Conference is the place for construction risk professionals to get answers to their toughest questions and make certain they have implemented risk management best practices. The 3-day program will feature more than 65 carefully selected speakers presenting 33 workshops designed to provide attendees with proven risk management strategies and insights.

Each year, the Conference brings about 1,500 leading project owners, general contractors, subcontractors, developers, insurers, and insurance brokers together to explore and convey state-of-the-art ideas and techniques for improving insurance coverages, controlling insurance costs, and fine-tuning risk management programs. It also provides an unparalleled opportunity to build a powerful network of new industry contacts and revisit old ones.
