IRMI Acquires Captive.com and Will Soon Launch an Updated, Modernized Site

Release Date: Aug 10, 2014

Dallas, TX, August 11, 2014International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), proudly announces the acquisition of Captive.com, the go-to information portal for the captive insurance industry since 1995, from Captive.com, LLC. Access to the information in Captive.com is free to anyone with no sign-in required, and the site is supported by sponsorships from some of the leading captive insurance service firms and financial institutions in the world. The Captive.com website is expected to launch this week with an updated, modernized, and much more pleasing and user-friendly look and feel. In addition, the new site will feature a responsive design that works well with tablets and smartphones.

Captive.com was the first unbiased information resource and networking center on the Internet for the alternative market and has been the dominant news and information source for those serving the alternative market since its inception. Similarly, IRMI was the first publisher of reference content covering the field of risk finance in 1983 with the publication of Risk Financing, a comprehensive reference resource on all aspects of traditional and alternative market approaches. IRMI is now also publisher of the first newsletter to cover the field of captives, Captive Insurance Company Reports, as well as two comprehensive books on the subject of captive insurance.

"With IRMI's long history of providing superb information and educational resources to the alternative market and risk finance industry, IRMI was the obvious home for Captive.com when the principals of Captive.com, LLC, decided to sell it," said John Salisbury, managing partner of Captive.com, LLC. "IRMI knows the industry, has no biases toward any particular domicile or service provider, is a trusted source of information for risk professionals, and has robust technology capabilities. All of this makes IRMI a perfect match for Captive.com."

"We are very excited about the future of Captive.com and plan to invest heavily in it to take it to a new level," said IRMI president and CEO Jack P. Gibson. "This has already begun with the pending launch of an updated and modernized Captive.com website, but this is only the beginning with new features and new information coming soon."

The current editors of Captive.com, John Salisbury and John Foehl, will continue to lead the editorial effort into the foreseeable future with editorial support from IRMI. Prior to semiretirement, Mr. Salisbury had served as the founding chief executive of three group captives and spent more than 30 years in developing and managing captive and association self-insurance programs. Mr. Foehl has 35+ years' experience in financial services with the past 20 years spent in the captive insurance industry arena, including executive positions with several captives and as a consultant to the captive community.

Additionally, IRMI has retained Barbara Casanova to consult on the sponsorship program and to assist with sponsorship sales. Information on the sponsorship program can be obtained from her at
[email protected] or by phoning her at (802) 578–5706.

"Barbara has a long history in the captive insurance industry, working previously with the Vermont Captive Insurance Association and as a consultant for various conferences and domiciles," stated Gibson. "We are delighted to have her supporting our efforts to build upon the past successes of Captive.com."
