Release Date: Oct 7, 2014

Dallas, TX, October 8, 2014—Over 270 insurance agents, brokers, underwriters, and insurance buyers who specialize in managing or insuring farm and agribusiness risks convened in Des Moines, Iowa, October 6–7, 2014, for the sold-out Emmett J Vaughan Agribusiness Conference.

Virtually all the major providers of insurance services were represented at this premier event for the farm and agribusiness industries. Keynote speaker Brent E. Haden with Haden & Bryne Law Firm in Columbia, Missouri, opened the Conference with an overview of current legal issues in the agribusiness industry. Des Moines was the host for the final 2014 Conference in this series.

“Attendees from all segments of the farm and agribusiness insurance and risk management industry enhanced their knowledge on identifying, managing, and insuring the unique risks faces by farms and agribusinesses,” said IRMI Director of Training and Education Millie Workman. “They also had many opportunities to network with their peers to gain additional knowledge and share best practices.”

All of the Conference classes lead to obtaining and maintaining the Agribusiness and Farm Insurance Specialist (AFIS™) certification, the foremost continuing education program for specialists in the agricultural and farm insurance industry. IRMI acquired the AFIS program from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of California (IIABCal) in August 2013.
