DALLAS—The number of construction and
insurance professionals who have earned the CRIS® certification has now
surpassed 3,000 people, the International
Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI) announced today. The
Construction Risk and
Insurance Specialist (CRIS®) certification and continuing education
program was launched by IRMI in March 2005 to help construction insurance
buyers, underwriters, and agents/brokers learn best practices for satisfying
the complex insurance and risk management needs of contractors. The CRIS®
courses are available online and, in many states, through classroom
programs, and satisfy state-mandated
insurance continuing education requirements.
The program also helps contractors identify insurance agents and brokers
who focus on the construction industry and who are qualified to write their
insurance by seeking insurance representatives who have obtained the CRIS®
certification. To facilitate this process, CRIS® certified agents and
brokers are listed in an online
insurance agent and broker directory that contractors may consult at no
cost.
“We had high hopes for the CRIS program when we started it, but its fast
growth has surpassed our most optimistic projections,” said IRMI President
Jack P. Gibson, CPCU, CRIS, ARM. “And, with about 50 additional construction
and insurance professionals earning the certification every month, it looks
as if the ranks of CRIS certification holders will top 4,000 people by the
end of 2010.”
