DALLAS—International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), will host the 29th IRMI Construction Risk Conference November 1-5, 2009, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, MD (in the Washington, D.C., area). Recommended by the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA), Associated General Contractors of America (AGC), and the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), the IRMI Construction Risk Conference is the only national symposium devoted exclusively to construction insurance, risk management, loss control, and bonding. The 3½-day program is designed for construction industry risk management and financial officers; construction project owners; and the insurance and surety agents, brokers, advisers, attorneys, and underwriters who serve them.

The keynote addresses will focus on lessons learned by the construction and insurance industries during the economic crisis and will feature Edmund F. Kelly, Ph.D., FSA, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Mutual Group, and Hugh L. Rice, Chairman of FMI Corporation.

The 29th IRMI Construction Risk Conference curriculum consists of 27 workshops facilitated by insurance, safety, legal, and bonding experts from across the United States. A few of the topics to be covered are: “Identifying and Managing Contract Risks,” “Wrap-Up Dos and Don'ts,” “Filling Your 'Green' Toolbox,” “Reducing Risks Via Quality Control and Leadership,” “Risk and Insurance Implications Due to Project Delays,” “Understanding Risk Financing Options,” “Best Practices for Eliminating Crane Losses,” “Filling the Holes in Contractors’ Liability Coverages,” and “Additional Insured Surprise—Horizontal Exhaustion.”

The “early bird” registration fees are $1,450 for the entire program (Monday through Thursday noon) or $1,350 for the Tuesday through Thursday noon program. Contractors and project owners attending for the first time qualify for a special first-timers’ half-price registration fee of $725. “Business cases” are also available for download to seek approval to attend.
