Release Date: May 16, 2012

Nearly 125 risk and insurance professionals attended the 2nd IRMI Cyber & Privacy Risk Conference in Baltimore, MD, May 16–17.

Baltimore, MD, May 17, 2012—Nearly 125 risk managers, agents, brokers, underwriters, adjusters, and attorneys convened in Baltimore May 16–17 to share knowledge about managing and insuring technology, privacy, and cyber risks at the 2nd IRMI Cyber & Privacy Risk Conference.

International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), hosted the Conference to address the complex exposures arising from the use of technology in business. Nationally known insurance brokerage, underwriting, and legal experts from firms such as Beazley, Chartis, Marsh, and Zurich offered practical strategies to help attendees make certain their stakeholders are properly insured and well positioned to respond to any incidents that occur. International cyber security expert and author of Cyber War, Richard A. Clarke, delivered the keynote address.

“With so many high-profile data breaches occurring, the business community is beginning to realize just how pervasive and threatening cyber, privacy, and media risks have become,” said IRMI President & CEO Jack P. Gibson. “Risk and insurance professionals face a steep learning curve from this recently emerged risk, and the risk managers, agents, and brokers who attended the Conference are much better equipped to identify cyber risks and put a cyber liability insurance program in place than they were 2 days ago.”
