David J. Shillingford
David Shillingford writes about equipment theft prevention for IRMI.com.
Mr. Shillingford is president and COO of the National Equipment Register,
Inc., and the Marketing and Operations Director of the Art Loss Register, Inc.
He sits on the Arts & Records Committee of the Inland Marine Underwriters Association
and is vice president of the Loss Data Committee of the National Cargo Security
Council.
After studying Chemistry at Exeter University, England, and serving as a
Captain in the British airborne forces, Mr. Shillingford joined the Art Loss
Register, Inc. (ALR), an international database of stolen art, in London. In
1998 David transferred to New York where he has been developing the operations
of the ALR in North America, establishing a central database for stolen heavy
equipment in North America, and carrying out a study into the creation of other
data based recovery systems. In 2001 David was appointed president of the newly
formed National Equipment Register, Inc (NER).
