Mr. Miccolis is a principal with the financial planning and investment management
firm Brinton Eaton Associates, Inc., where he is involved with life/retirement/tax/estate
planning; portfolio management, and securities research, analysis, and selection.
For nearly 25 years, before joining Brinton Eaton in 2003, Mr. Miccolis was
a risk management consultant and consulting actuary with Tillinghast-Towers
Perrin and a principal of Towers Perrin.
Mr. Miccolis is architect of several of Tillinghast-Towers Perrin’s multidisciplinary
service offerings, including workers compensation cost management, strategic
risk financing, and enterprise risk management. He served that firm in a number
of local, national, and global practice leadership positions. Mr. Miccolis most
recently led the firm’s global enterprise risk management consulting activities.
He is a widely quoted speaker and author on risk management issues.
Mr. Miccolis’ client responsibilities with Tillinghast-Towers Perrin included
managing complex multidisciplinary consulting engagements in the areas of enterprise
risk management, workers compensation cost management, total health management,
strategic risk financing, loss forecasting, financial modeling, funding analysis,
and general management consulting. He also has undertaken actuarial and management
consulting assignments with traditional and captive insurance companies and
statutory insurance funds, and has worked with legislators and regulatory authorities,
providing advice, including expert witness testimony, on proposed insurance
legislation/regulations, financial examinations, and rate filings.
A Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy
of Actuaries, Mr. Miccolis has served both groups on a number of professional
committees, chairing several, and sitting on the Casualty Committee of the Actuarial
Standards Board. He most recently chaired the CAS Committee on Enterprise Risk
Management. Mr. Miccolis also has authored and reviewed/refereed professional
papers in the actuarial literature and has served as an editor of CAS and Towers
Perrin publications. He received a BS in mathematics from Drexel University,
and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation from the Association
for Investment Management and Research.
