Martin F. McGavin wrote the risk management column on workers compensation issues for IRMI.com.

Mr. McGavin has been managing safety and claims for more than 20 years. He has worked as a plant human resource and safety manager, a claims adjuster, and as a corporate workers compensation manger. For the last 18 years he has worked for a Fortune 150 company where he is currently the manager of safety and claims. His responsibilities include all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Mr. McGavin has published many articles and papers on safety and workers compensation, including Blueprint for Workers Comp Cost Containment published in 2001 by IRMI. He is also a frequent speaker on workers compensation topics.

Mr. McGavin graduated from Michigan State University in 1979.
