Mr. Larsen was a risk management consultant with Tillinghast-Towers Perrin
in its Chicago office. He is responsible for the Directors and Officers (D&O)
Liability Survey and other D&O products and services, as well as related surveys
on liability issues. He has been responsible for these surveys, products and
services for more than 5 years, beginning at the Wyatt Company and continuing
when Tillinghast acquired that firm's Risk and Insurance Services practice.
Mr. Larsen's areas of expertise and responsibility include D&O liability,
employment practices liability (EPL), fiduciary liability, medical malpractice,
hospital professional liability, and other related professional liability lines.
He also consults on survey research and a wide array of financial and investment
topics, especially those requiring risk analysis.
In addition, Mr. Larsen's career also includes work as a supervisory statistical
consultant at CNA Insurance Companies. For nearly 8 years at CNA, he provided
statistical and risk analysis support to operating and staff departments. Key
activities included the development of dynamic investment strategy simulation
models to support interest-sensitive life and pension products, and the design
and implementation of an expert system for underwriting D&O liability insurance
for non-financial corporations based on a multidimensional financial distress
model.
Mr. Larsen has been quoted on D&O liability, EPL, educators legal liability,
and fiduciary liability issues by such leading periodicals as
Business Insurance, Journal of Commerce, National
Underwriter, The New York Times, Risk & Insurance, and
The Wall Street Journal. He is also a
frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars on D&O liability and EPL.
Mr. Larsen holds a MS degree in applied probability and statistics and a
BS degree in economics from Northern Illinois University, where he earned the
Chairman's Award from the Department of Mathematical Sciences. He also completed
course work toward a Doctor of Philosophy degree in statistics at Michigan State
University.
