Scott Langlinais, CPA, is a Fort Worth-based consultant specializing in fraud
prevention, detection, and response. Clients in the manufacturing, health care,
chemical, energy, securities, state government, staffing, and public accounting
industries have brought him in-house to deliver fraud prevention seminars and
perform high-level fraud risk analyses to assist executives in establishing
a control environment hostile towards fraud. On a tactical level, he uses data
mining techniques combined with a five-step approach to testing designed to
detect fraud and waste. He also uses data analysis software to create customized
fraud watch programs for Internal Audit and operational departments.
Mr. Langlinais delivers several public and in-house fraud seminars annually
around the world, including Fighting Fraud Using
Data Mining, offered through Audimation Services Inc., and
Fraud Detection & Investigation for Internal
Auditors and Fraud Awareness for Financial
Managers, which are offered both publicly and in-house through Courtenay
Thompson & Associates. He has spoken at numerous fraud conferences for the Institute
of Internal Auditors as well as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the local meetings of professional associations. He writes quarterly articles
on fraud prevention, detection, and response for the International Risk Management
Institute.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Langlinais held public accounting and
internal audit leadership positions, most recently serving as Director of Internal
Audit for a publicly held software company. His experience includes leading
investigations of suspected wrongdoing: his investigations of fraud and gross
negligence have resulted in removal of perpetrators, successful litigation,
and recovery of millions of dollars. He is also the Founder and Director of
the Dallas Tax Assistance Program, a not-for-profit organization which assists
low income families in preparing their federal tax returns.
Mr. Langlinais received a BBA degree from the University of Notre Dame.
