Gary J. Bausom contributes articles on

Currently, Mr. Bausom is president of Bausom & Associates. Prior to this,
he was a senior executive of InterVenture Partners.
Mr. Bausom's clients include selected Fortune 500 firms and insurance enterprises.
A number of his clients benefited from change management projects that involved
improvements to customer segmentation, distribution networks, and profits leveraged
by Web and technology tools. Mr. Bausom worked with a Silicon Valley system
integrator and venture-consulting firm on supply chain and financial services
vertical space opportunities.
Mr. Bausom was previously a senior consultant with Towers Perrin/Tillinghast
where he advised senior management on business continuity, risk tolerance, and
hedging strategies/implementation for corporations including Kaiser Foundation,
Hewlett-Packard, Fletcher Challenge, and Sara Lee. For Towers Perrin he developed
system client applications and integrated the general management and actuarial
practices. Prior to that, Mr. Bausom was a senior vice president at Alexander
& Alexander, managing some of its largest accounts worldwide. He assisted clients
with risk reviews and placement of billions of dollars of reinsurance contracts
on behalf of clients' captive insurers. His long-term, trusted relationships
with high-credit, quality insurers and reinsurers enhanced client solutions.
He also established a consulting operation to improve client service and upgrade
key employee skills to meet client needs.
Mr. Bausom was a vice president at the Bank of America, where he was responsible
for marketing investment, insurance, and tax-advantaged services. His profit
center generated a 20 percent net profit on sales and 400 percent returns on
assets. Prior to that, he was assistant treasurer at Esmark, Inc., responsible
for pension investments, post-retirement healthcare funding, and risk management.
He was a team member of Esmark's aggressive mergers and acquisitions growth
strategy involving more than $5 billion of acquisitions. At Transamerica Corporation,
he was responsible for corporate risk management and insurance for 25 subsidiaries.
He also served as a vice president for Budget Rent-A-Car, a Transamerica subsidiary.
In 1982 Mr. Bausom was on executive loan to the Reagan White House where
he was in charge of 30 executives from U. S. corporations who applied business
practices to the acquisition, maintenance, and disposal of federal real estate.
A follow-up report indicated this work resulted in implemented recommendations
that achieved $3.75 billion in annual savings.
Mr. Bausom has a BBA degree from the University of Wisconsin, an MBA degree
from Golden Gate University, a PMD from Harvard Business School, and attended
MIT’s Sloan Management School’s executive program.
