Mr. Weintraub is one of the panelists for Workshop M3, "Wrap-Up Dos and
Don'ts," on Monday. He is Vice President and General Counsel of the DRI
Companies, an energy services company providing building-integrated
photovoltaic products and energy-efficient solar, roofing, waterproofing,
and lighting installation services. As the company's chief legal officer,
Mr. Weintraub is responsible for litigation management, contract drafting,
review and negotiation, oversight of the Human Resources department, IP
procurement and enforcement, corporate and regulatory compliance, and
government affairs. In 2008, the DRI Companies legal department was selected
as one of the Top 10 Most Innovative Legal Departments in Corporate America
by Inside Counsel Magazine. Prior to
joining DRI, Mr. Weintraub gained extensive experience in complex civil
litigation and counseling at Howard Rice Nemerovski Canady Falk & Rabkin LLP
and at Horvitz & Levy LLP.
Mr. Weintraub is a frequently sought-after lecturer at continuing
education seminars, speaking on such issues as product liability, contract
negotiation, construction law, risk management, insurance coverage, and
complex civil litigation. He has presented at dozens of events over the past
3 years, including the Association of Corporate Counsel's Annual Meeting,
West Coast Casualty's Construction Defect Seminar, International Risk
Management Institute's Construction Risk Conference, the Defense Research
Institute's Construction Law Seminar, and LexisNexis Mealey's Construction
Defect SuperConference. A prolific author, articles written by Mr. Weintraub
have appeared in California Litigation,
Verdict, and
For the Defense magazines, as well as
in the Lexis-Nexis Insurance Reporter.
Mr. Weintraub has also served as a guest lecturer at the University of
California, Irvine. Mr. Weintraub has provided testimony to the California
State Legislature in support of a bill to cap punitive damages in civil
cases and an anti-indemnity statute for the construction industry. In each
of the past 4 years, Mr. Weintraub has been selected by his peers as a
"Rising Star" lawyer in Southern California
Super Lawyers, an honor bestowed on the top 2.5 percent of attorneys
under the age of 40. Mr. Weintraub received his Juris Doctor degree from the
University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) and his
undergraduate degree in political science, with distinction and departmental
honors, from Stanford University.
