Mr. Sharp is one of the panelists for Workshop W4, “Contractual Risk Transfer: Trends and Challenges,” on Wednesday morning. He serves as the vice president of risk management responsible for the development and overall management of the McCarthy risk management and insurance program, all claims administration, bonds, and contractor default insurance.

He began his career as a claims adjuster working for Safeco Insurance handling all lines of coverage. He then spent the next 18 years working as an insurance broker with Marsh, Alexander & Alexander, and Hobbs Group in various capacities. In 2000, he joined Clark Construction Group as director of risk management and directed the Clark risk management program before accepting his current position with McCarthy in 2007.

In addition to his work with McCarthy, Mr. Sharp serves as an advisory construction board member for CHARTIS Insurance Company and as a member of the Risk Management Committee with the Associated General Contractors of America.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from Marist College.
