Mark E. Reagan

Mr. Reagan is a speaker for Workshop W3, "Surety Update," on Wednesday morning. He serves as chairman, Global Construction Practice, at Marsh & McLennan Companies. Mr. Reagan will lead the company's growth in Act II of its Building the BEST strategy, which involves aggressively targeting emerging opportunities in the global construction industry for growth this year and beyond, as some sectors begin to recover from the global financial crisis.

Mr. Reagan is widely recognized as one of the leading construction insurance and surety executives in the nation. He began his insurance career in 1971 with Seaboard Surety Company in New York as a Senior Underwriter. Four years later, he was named Manager of UK/European operations in London.

In 1980, Mr. Reagan returned to New York as Vice President of Seaboard’s Contract Surety Operations and later was appointed a Director for the company. In 1984, he was named Senior Vice President with responsibilities for surety, claims, and management information services.

Mr. Reagan joined AIG in 1988 as President of its Bond Division with worldwide responsibility for surety and fidelity bonds. A year later, he was appointed Senior Executive for the financial lines of American International Underwriters. He has served on the board of numerous AIG companies.

Following his tenure at AIG, he served as Chairman and CEO of Willis Group’s Construction Practice. Known as a creative thinker and innovator, Mr. Reagan has been responsible for creating Subguard, Crimeguard, and other new insurance products.

In 2007, he joined Aon Construction Services Group, where he assumed responsibilities for developing strategic initiatives as a leader in growing the International Practice, with particular focus on Europe and Asia. He also worked to enhance production, recruiting, and acquisitions in North America. Mr. Reagan also led efforts in product innovation and development, with initial concentration on the capital formation for major projects, including the emerging use of Public Private Partnerships around the world.

Mr. Reagan is a graduate of Fordham University and serves on the President's Council. He is former Chairman of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) National Asphalt Pavement Association Liaison Committee. He is former Director of the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA). He is a member of the Consulting Constructor’s Council of America (CCC). He is also active as a Trustee/Director on the Board of the NJ Sharing Network Foundation Charitable Trust.

He has served on the boards of many construction insurance and surety industry groups.
