Mr. Motherway is one of the panelists for Workshop T3, "Construction Enterprise Risk Management," on Tuesday afternoon. He oversees the corporate-wide risk management program including safety and loss prevention, litigation management, and disaster preparedness as well as the administration of the corporate property and casualty programs for Tishman. He coordinates the marketing and placement of coverages on behalf of clients of the company during construction projects. Insurance programs include wrap-ups with project premiums in excess of $20 million. He reviews all contracts to make sure that the company and client are properly protected. He is responsible for negotiating all claims settlements on behalf of Tishman and its clients.

Mr. Motherway started Tishman's captive insurance company, TRIMCO, in 2001 and manages the day-to-day operation of TRIMCO. TRIMCO currently insures the risks of Tishman's construction, development, hotel, and real estate operations.

Mr. Motherway was the risk manager for the City of New York from 1992 to 1994. Mr. Motherway established citywide contract guidelines to maintain maximum protection for the personnel, property, and assets of the city against risk of loss; developed alternative means of financing and courses of action to the Deputy Mayor for Operations, Office of Management and Budget, Comptroller, Corporation Counsel, and all city agencies. He also identified property and casualty loss exposures and implemented the most effective combination of risk transfer, risk financing, and loss prevention techniques; and oversaw the city's workers compensation and tort claims administration operation. In addition, he worked with the Comptroller's Office and the Law Department to develop strategies for the early settlement of claims, alternate dispute resolution, and litigation management techniques. He also provided guidance to all levels of city management on risk and insurance matters, while overseeing the citywide Office of Safety and Health, the city's Loss Control Unit, and the Central Insurance Program; and was Chairman of the New York City Local Emergency Planning Committee.

Prior to serving the City of New York, Mr. Motherway was a litigation associate with Akerman Senterfitt & Eidson, P.A., Miami, Florida, from 1991 to 1992.

Mr. Motherway holds a J.D. from the University of Miami School of Law and a BS/Biology from Manhattan College.

His professional licenses include membership in the Florida Bar and New York State Bar and he is admitted to the U.S. Southern District of Florida. His professional affiliations include member, Dade County Bar Association; member, American Bar Association Defense Research Institute, 2000-present; Risk and Insurance Management Society (NY Chapter) (National RIMS Government Affairs Committee, 1995-1996, and New York Chapter Board of Directors, 1998-2000); Vermont Captive Insurance Association; Kings Park Central School District Board of Education, Trustee, 2006-2007, Vice President, 2007-Present; and St. Vincent's Services of Brooklyn Board of Directors.
