Joseph M. Gallagher

Mr. Gallagher is one of the presenters for Workshop M3, "Green and Lean—Construction Trends and Challenges," on Monday. He is Risk Manager for Alberici Group, Inc., which is the service provider to Alberici Constructors. As Risk Manager, Mr. Gallagher has responsibility for all aspects of corporate and project risk exposure evaluation and mitigation for Alberici operations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Included in those efforts is oversight of Alberici's corporate insurance program, two captive insurance companies, insurance agency, claims and TPA staff, contract and bid specification review, coverage specifications, contractual compliance with insurance requirements, Builder's Risk and other project-specific placements, Subguard program, broker and other service provider relationships, along with multiple risk management and insurance-related training programs. He also provides direct oversight to Alberici's fleet safety program, including the vehicle request and driver approval process, GPS monitoring, and defensive driver training.

Mr. Gallagher has been employed by Alberici's Risk Management Dept. since mid 2003. He was elevated to the Risk Manager position at the end of 2006. Prior to Alberici, Mr. Gallagher was with Kemper Insurance in a variety of Safety and Risk Control management positions for 13 years.

He is an active member of AGC, both nationally and at the local level. Mr. Gallagher is currently serving as the chair of the Risk Management subcommittee of the St. Louis AGC Chapter. He is also a prior active member of both the St. Louis ASSE and SFPE chapters.

Mr. Gallagher graduated from the University of Iowa with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering.
