Mr. D’Amico is copresenting Workshop T4, “Builders Risk Insurance—Not Just Sticks and Bricks,” on Tuesday afternoon. After graduating from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1975 with a bachelors degree in Business Administration, Mr. D’Amico started his career with the Property & Casualty Division of the Travelers Insurance Company. There he received extensive training in specialty lines of insurance with a focus on Business Interruption and Time Element coverage, Builder’s Risk Insurance, Boiler & Machinery, and Crime coverage. In 1981, Mr. D’Amico was promoted to Regional Property Supervisor, which entailed managing major property insurance losses in 13 states in the South East Region. In addition to managing large loss files, Mr. D’Amico organized and supervised catastrophe claim operations in the aftermath of natural disasters.

In 1987, Mr. D’Amico joined Goodman-Gable-Gould/Adjusters International, a professional insurance loss consulting firm, which was founded in 1941, and serves as an advocate for the policyholder in first-party property insurance losses. In his capacity as a Senior Loss Consultant, Mr. D’Amico specializes in the evaluation and adjustment of Business Interruption and other Time Element losses, Builder’s Risk, Boiler & Machinery, and Crime losses.

As a standing member of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA), Mr. D’Amico holds a Senior Professional Public Adjuster (SPPA) designation. This designation is a mark of high standards of expertise and ethics in the conduct of the public insurance adjusting profession.

Mr. D’Amico is also an active member of the New York Public Adjusters Association, the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, and the Florida Windstorm Association. Mr. D’Amico has presented seminars on Builder’s Risk and Boiler & Machinery Insurance on several occasions at the national conventions of the Risk Insurance Managers Society (RIMS) and the International Risk Management Institute (IRMI), and the American Bar Association (ABA), and at annual conferences held by the American Hotel Managers Association. Mr. D’Amico is a frequent speaker at seminars conducted for insurance brokerage firms and is a qualified continuing education instructor on Builder’s Risk and Business Interruption coverage for insurance professionals in Maryland and New York.

Mr. D’Amico authored the article titled “Soft Cost or Delay on Opening: Insure for the Potential Exposure,” which was published in Adjusting Today.
