Michael W. Anderson

Mr. Anderson is one of the presenters for Workshop W3, "Surety Update," on Wednesday morning. He is Marsh’s U.S. Construction Practice team leader. In his current position, he is responsible for serving the team’s needs in the production, placement, and management of clients’ program capacity, driving innovation in Marsh’s "Best Practices" for its construction insurance surety businesses, and maintaining and enhancing the Practice’s insurance and surety carrier relationships.

He began his career at Seaboard Surety Company in 1983. Mr. Anderson worked in field and Home Office underwriting positions, as well as branch office and senior management positions in both underwriting and operations. From 1998-2000, he headed Reliance Surety Company’s International Department where he was responsible for management of the company's international underwriting and operations. Prior to joining Marsh in June 2010, Mr. Anderson headed Willis’s National Surety Practice.

Mr. Anderson has been a frequent speaker on construction risk management issues and has published articles and "white papers" on how contractors can establish and maintain stable risk management programs. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business from Ferris State University (MI).
